Dearest friends and companions....
I hereby bring you the news that on Friday 11th June Midnight we will be re-releasing our entire back catalog with various audio and visual extras including unreleased tracks and unreleased videos for a very reasonable fee. We are big advocates of file sharing but just feel it should be done with high quality media files therefore we decided that as we move on to the future without a deal in place and with full ownership of our material and also some of our releases not being available anywhere or worldwide we figured this would be the best option for you and us. (kinda Like what Jonah Matranga started, Marillion developed and radiohead made headlines with but with a fixed price). We’re not naïve enough to think we shouldn’t have our music available at all the usual digital outlets but with this as an option it means we make the tunes, you purchase and we can reinvest in the future of the band without any record co. in the middle. Everyone knows that the business is going through major change and I am fortunate enough to be able to see it from both sides being on a major label with my other project marmadook dook. This is not an anti-biz move or a veiled elitist attitude, we would love to be on a label who believed in us enough to invest some scrilla but we aren’t holding our breath and don’t want to make that our primary goal. Our main motivation is writing music that we love and that means something to us and getting it to you as simply, truthfully and painlessly as possible. Not to make millions and be famous (sic), which would be ‘awesome’, but to make enough to keep making music and keep the dream alive. All the revenue collected will be re-invested into better records, better shows and putting some love back into tha world. Keep them mw2 and tour requests coming and thanks for being true companions in our journey.X.... |

Well hello again, two in a week eh! Thanks for your kind messages and the friend requests at mw2 and for keeping tha faith. We’ve been back practising after the guus returns from chasing roos and his big bros wedding. A bit rusty and it’s been strangely hot for ecosse but nevertheless we hit a rare pick ‘n’ mix to see what we feel like playing for the tour. We hit ‘found you makin’ from way back, a couple of unreleased tracks like ‘ghosts and shadows’ and ‘collector’ and some that we rarely play from ‘random’ and ‘pain agency’. Feel free to throw some suggestions our way, all will be considered. I think we’ll probs throw in ‘wolf carnival’ and ‘reached my limit’ though. We also got two great new tshirt designs for the summer. These designs are very limited and we will be selling them very cheaply (about 5 quid) so please come flush to the shows because if we can sell out this run the money will go a long way towards helping to pay for the album to be mixed and that means we gets it to you sooner. We don’t wish to beg but you knows how it is an that. Meanwhile have an awesome weekend, I hope the sun keeps shining and dragonsucio will catch you on mw2 before tour begins. Talk soon, stay hydrated. Love me X.... |

So people, it’s already nearly half way through the year and many of you have been asking…what are sucio doing, they’ve not done anything for ages…hurry up and get a record out…you guys should tour much more…etc? I have the answers to these questions and many more but to put it simply everything is not always as straightforward as it seems, a bit like our music and us. Anyone in a band or that’s been in a band will know what I mean when I say how tough things can be without an infrastructure of label, agent, management or perhaps sometimes with them too. Since we made our last record I’ve witnessed many amazing bands split and mostly the reasons seem to lie somewhere in the ‘financial’ category or lack of ‘commercial’ success. I started this band in 2002 in my final year at uni and I can honestly say I made more money at uni from loans, p/time work and studio whoring than I have in the years since. I am still in this band because it’s my vocation and although I’m hoping for more commercial success for us it’s not my main motivation for doing it, quite simply it’s what I do. We love making music together and are trying everything we can to get new material out to you and tour as much as we possibly can this year. In early February this year we started work on our third record. We deliberately didn’t post diaries or making ofs this time because everything went so tits up in many ways on ‘pain agency’. We wanted to keep it on the lowdown and just keep our heads down and focus on making the best record we possibly could and bring you information when we have it set in at least soft cement. We finished tracking the record in April and have trimmed 14 songs down to ten. So, instead of me rattling on which I will try to do more regularly, I give you the news that our great friend Chris Sheldon will again be mixing the new record. We are currently speaking to labels but also have the contingency plan of a self release available in digital form which we hope could happen around August/September of this year with a possible physical release later on if all goes well so we can get it to you asap. We’re playing a few shows here and there and we’ll be throwing in a couple of new songs and all the classics from the first two records, we’ll call it a 14 song set if it’s a headline and yous got to be there, we need you. We have more news but it’s better to eat small meals innit.....
Love dragonsucio X....
Ps. If you are a serious mw2 ps3 player then friend request dragonsucio and I’ll show you how we roll. If we home we usually hit up some team deathmatch after 10pm ....uk.... time. NB, playas only;).... |

6th FEBRUARY my dear friends back practising today. in the afternoon with dukeatmos for acoustic sessions. we're doin gonzo mtv2, xfm and couple of others. been good fun to play some disco on the acoustics. also doing some new photos with K! and NME, look out for those-we hittin london monday, tuesday. Glasgow is now sold out, thank you.also yesterday did interviews with The List, Subba Cultcha and fIVElIVE. in the eventide with the sooch, practised a few for album 3, hit a bit of you've lost that lovin feelin and dusted off eviscerated, imitation and random, good but cold vibes. the snow was laying on the hills, the peasants were runnin over the roads and goose tried to kill us in a quest for gettin to some lemon sole and chips as fast as poss. has anyone seen planes, trains and automobiles? fortunately spiders good juju saved us. also last night we got loads more work done on a couple of songs one 'the way to get in baby' we finished and another 'two frankies' is gettin there-ones like hall and oates, the other folk metal funk-im totally lovin the search for the new sound. loving the military channel just now, check on 531 sky owners. real pleased to see so much action on the forum and myspace front, appreciate the love. hope your all still buzzin on the record and the tours coming up-so looking forward to the year ahead to share the sucio love with ya'll. tomorrrow i have a day off except for a phoner with NARCmedia and so im getting together with a few of my nearest and dearest in the lair. even the old skin dog (reilly, ace of spies) is coming down. also arranging delivery of a couple of nice new things for the dragon to play with. have a wonderful friday (still the best day of the week) and be good to yourself. X
11th FEBRUARY just back from my trippppppp. fun times but busy. so got about 2 hours sleep on sunday. went to bed early (well 1am) and woke up at 530am, fell back asleep, rushed around like mad for 830am pick up to glasgow airport. arrived london at delightful hotel on oxford street tabout 1pm with deeatmos. got some lunch and met with our wonderful stylist Hannah Edwards (she aided us with the concepts for the photoshoots you may have saw lately in K! and NME). she had made us our own britches and accessories and I got some very swish riding boots and spurs. hope to be riding a lot on the duke tour; hannah helped me to dress, we threw done some pret and went to mayfair for a photinterview with K!s Tom Bryant. lots of sexy shots to come your way, courtesy of the fast Paul Harries. We wrapped that up in a couple of hours and then headed to Whitechapel for another photinterview with NME. by this point it's pissing down and it's an outdoor shoot. we do the interview first in the ten bells, hoping for the rain to abate. we wait an hour, the rain gets heavier, we soldier on. once the rain soaks through my non-waterproof jacket and shirt i have to poof out and get dry before i start to cry. believe me i went past the point of no return, we had to run on the spot in between set ups just to stay alive. i must add that people who know me know i hate the cold, my heating is on 16 hours a day just now. the shots were special though so it was worth it. we catch up with alex and dan from the label, have a couple of brandies and head back to the hotel. it's about 10pm. we get a mcds and plan an early night watching the grammys. we're both shattered so stick on 'wanted' (awesome) and try to get to sleep. after rolling around like a dog for 5 hours I finally drift off then the alarm goes off (it's 8am), i know, heartbreaking. get our gear on and head to E4 for a grimterview with Nick Grimshaw. had a great laugh and we were really welcomed with our sexy boots on! then back to the hotel for a sneaky hours kip because an orange session was cancelled. next some lunch and off to MTV. we were scheduled to do a gonzo but things changed. did a couple of soundbites on classic albums and then an acoustic performance of 'kid gloves'-went real well, it was great to be playing and not just bantering or posing. thanks to deirdre for looking after us. next off to meet up with Phil from the label to head to XFM for a pre-recorded session. we had a bottle of red and laid down 'kid gloves','rubber lover','skin the mofo' and the classic 'an imposter and a magician'. we then met up with alex and christain from the label for a wagamama and to recieve our promos of the album. i don't want to spoil any surprises but the tracklist runs kidrubberskinhearteverybodysilhouettesdemonmusiceroticjesuis and not in that order. promos are going to press soon so all will be revealed in good time. we then say our goodbyes and head to heathrow, we were lucky enough to travel business on the way home with the wonderful bmibaby, the stewardesses thought i was someone 'cause they saw john reid was coming on board, they managed to seem excited just the same. oh and i have the customs strip sussed;wear shoes with no laces, don't wear a belt, put your keys and phone in your hand luggage and spend your loose change on a puggy or sweets. thanks for reading about my adventures. can't wait to get out and tour with the duke and the sooch, it's gonna be a wonderful year. so happy to be home, going for a mega sleep and couple of days on the sooch-yessss. wooh, it's a long one, there's so much more but i'll leave it there for now friends X |
